What to be done to improve quality in school education

Educational reform from time time in terms of teaching ,content .teaching and management of school education is inevitable and main objective is education for all.and we almost reached the same Yet today’s need changed and becomes ‘quality and relevance’Hence educational policy must focus on the following A careful balance has to be struck between competence in the subject taught and competence in teaching

Up gradation of quality of teacher education that is at the level of pre-service education of teachers and regular periodical in – service training for working teachers to update their content ,methodology ,apporoch and mass media usage .All teacher – certificate must includes academic ,technical and vocational training and psychology of teaching and learning process

Recruitment of teachers should reflect an equitable balance between the various subject-areas, urban and rural area

In- service training is strongly recommended as life long education of all those engaged in the teaching profession to upgrade teaching capacities both theory and practice.Curriculum development should also have the place in such training

Teacher to be effective must draw upon a broad range teaching skills as well as on the human qualities of empathy,patience,and humility,as a complement authority The greater the handicaps the children coming to school have to overcome -poverty difficult social environment or physical impairments

Teaching is not only an art but also a science.The powerful relationship between teacher and learner is central in teaching process The teacher remain an essential catalyst in this process Teacher’s work is not confined simply to transmitting information or even knowledge Teachers great strength lies in the example they set ,of curiosity,open-mindedness,willingness to test their assumptions and acknowledge mistakes and to transmit a love of learning

Regular opportunities should be offered for practicing teachers to learn through group work sessions and in service courses It should be flexible need based to improve their Opportunities for research both action formal research and in new technologies A symbiotic link to be established between the school and community in such training
