It is a small annual herb, characterized for its leaf which causes itching on skin when come in contact with. There are certain small hair-like projections on the lower side of the leaf. These hairs are responsible for the itching effect.
The plant is used as a traditional medicine such as diuretic, antispasmodic, expectorant, and for asthma.
It possess diuretic, diaphoretic, antiperiodic, depurative and alterant activity. They are useful in pruritic skin eruptions, venereal diseases, haeorrhoids, gastropathy, guinea worms, blood impurities, dipsia, vomiting giddiness, vitiated conditions of pitta, melalgia and brachialgia
The leaves extract can be used for rheumatic disorders.
This can be used to treat scurvy.
It is used to treat stomach disorders.It can make use in Arthritis and also for allergic rhinitis.
It helps to improve hair growth.The juice from the leaves if applied on the scalp which improves hair growth and can also help to reduce dandruff.For oily scalp and for oily hair this is also useful.
It helps to cure problem in urination such as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia(BPH).The problems of the disease include frequent urination, painful urination, difficulty in urination and irritable bladder.
The aerial part of the plant can be used to treat urinary infections such as Urinary Tract Infections, Urinary Tract Inflammations and Kidney stones.This parts of the plant can be also used for allergies and for osteoarthritis
It helps to reduce the pain in skin muscles.The leaves extracts have been used on the skin for rheumatic disorders.
It should not be used in pregnancy and to the children younger than 12 years.
