Habit:- It is a small tree that grows throughout I India B. suaveolens is an important plant used as medicine in India ayurveda.
Distribution:- Fragrant Padri Tree is globally distributed in Ind-Malesia. Within India, it is found in tropical Himalayas, Assam, Meghalaya and in moist deciduous forests of Western Ghats.
Morphology:- Fragrant Padri Tree is a large deciduous tree, with velvet-hairy branches. Leaves are compound, Leaflets are broadly elliptic, long-pointed. velvety on the underside, rounded and unequal at base, short-stalked. Fragrant flowers are borne in large panicle. They are , pinkish. Sepal cup is bell-shaped, Stamens are 4, remaining inside the flower-tube. Seed-pod is long, cylindrical, ribbed and rough
Traditionally, it is mainly used as analgesic, liver stimulant, astringent, wound healing and anti-dyspeptic. Roots of this plant are one of the ingredients of Dasamula in Ayurveda medicine
Root is used for urinary retention, skin diseases, cough, arthritis, hemorrhoids, and muscular pain, hemorrhoids and kidney stones.
